Acupuncture
Peter offers both 5 element style and Traditional Chinese Medicine; two of the most established styles of Acupuncture in this country.
Acupuncture is a system of healing relatively new to the western world but it has been practised In the East and China for thousands of years. It is often seen as a treatment for pain however it can be used to treat a wide range of conditions.
How does acupuncture work?
All kinds of stress, overwork, lifestyle patterns and injury can upset our natural balance. When we are out of balance we have physical and emotional symptoms.
Acupuncture focuses on the health of the whole person in order to treat specific symptoms. Our health is dependent on the body’s motivating energy, known as Chi, moving in a smooth, balanced way through channels within the body. When our Chi becomes unbalanced or disrupted, illness results. Inserting fine needles at key points helps to unblock the flow of energy and restore normal balance, thereby stimulating the body’s own healing response.
In accordance with his extensive training Peter takes time to understand the root cause of your symptoms. Having established the relevant patterns of disharmony very fine needles are used to activate specific energy points on the body to help bring body and mind back to health.
What does acupuncture treat?
NICE (National Institute for Health & Care Excellence) recommends acupuncture for back pain and headaches.
Many thousands of clinical trials have verified the effectiveness of acupuncture. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the UK’s Department of Health recognise its value. As well as successfully treating painful conditions such as migraines and back pain, acupuncture can help many other ailments. The WHO (2002) lists conditions for which acupuncture has been proved through controlled trials to be an effective treatment:
Allergic rhinitis
Biliary colic
Anxiety
Depression
Dysmenorrhoea
Stomach pain
Facial pain

All treatments below are relaxing, stress relieving, increase blood flow and lymph drainage, and help stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system (The Relaxation response- helping sleep etc)
NB.Modesty is preserved by only uncovering the area to be worked on and by Peter leaving the room while the client changes and gets on or off the couch.
Remedial Massage
(Swedish massage) relaxing and restoring for any part of the body -Soothing, flowing and easing muscles.
Deep Tissue Massage
Does what it says, working on deep knots and older patterns of tension. It can include fascia release as well as deeper muscle tension release.
Sports Massage
(See Deep Tissue Massage above) acute strains and injury require a different approach. The right treatment at the right stage is very important. For chronic problems deep tissue massage can be combined with Zero balancing techniques.
Intuitive Massage
In tune with the deeper you, healing and nurturing on a deeper level. Helping find knots you hardly knew were there, clearing blocks in your energy channels for more holistic results so helping body and mind together. I often combine elements of massage with Zero Balancing techniques especially with neck/shoulder problems and back pain.
Peter’s training with renowned teacher David Lauterstein worked with physical tension but also with our energy body and emotional body. With this approach, as with Zero Balancing there is room for Peter to use his intuition about what will help most.
Peter often combines elements of massage with Zero Balancing techniques especially with neck/shoulder problems and back pain.
Zero Balancing
What is Zero Balancing?
Zero Balancing can be described as Structural Acupressure. It is completely unique in the field of body work. Zero Balancing integrates a western scientific knowledge of body structure with eastern understandings of energy and healing. As such it shares many natural healing principles with, for example acupuncture, yoga and shiatsu.
What makes Zero Balancing unique?
Zero Balancing is a powerful body-mind therapy. It uses skilled touch to address the relationships between energy (vitality) and structure within the body. Much of our old stress and deeper patterns of disharmony get stored in bone tissue and joints. This can result in pain, stiffness and tension, posture issues or other health problems in any part of the body. Zero Balancing works with our joints and alignment clearing physical and energetic blocks. It reduces stress or tension stored deep within the body.
Held stretches and precise finger pressure work to create a stronger, clearer field of energy through the deepest structures of the body.
The person who devised this technique –world renowned teacher, Dr Fritz Smith – is a conventional doctor as well as an osteopath and master acupuncturist. It is from this deep understanding of healing principles that Zero Balancing grew.
